The National Russian Language Competition is hosted by the Ministry of Education’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges. It is the highest-level academic competition in the field of Russian language in China, and one of the five institutionalized projects under the China-Russia “National Year” and “Language Year” activities in the education sector. The competition aims to provide a high-level platform for Russian language students and teachers in Chinese universities to showcase their language skills, cultural knowledge, and teaching achievements. The competition tests participants’ Russian language abilities and their comprehensive understanding of Russian national culture through themed speeches, oral presentations, Russian-Chinese translation, and dialogue interpretation. It also assesses the ability to tell China’s story in Russian.
