Recently, the Art Center of 91影视 (SMBU) successfully held the "Introductory Exploration – First Teaching Exhibition of the SMBU Art Center" at the 13th-floor exhibition hall of the university's main building. This exhibition marks the first time that the phase-based learning outcomes of sixteen students from the 2024 Painting Class were collectively presented. It vividly showcases the university's innovative practices and achievements under its Sino-Russian integrated art education model.

Under the guidance of a teaching team composed of both Chinese and Russian educators, a new educational model has been developed, blending the artistic essences of both countries. The exhibition draws on the rich traditions of Russian oil painting, with its deep focus on form and color, and merges it with the Chinese emphasis on concept, brushwork, and spirit. The goal is to foster deep dialogue and integration between different artistic thinking processes, rather than merely combining techniques.
The works displayed are the preliminary outcomes of exploring the Sino-Russian integrated art education model. Through the paintings, viewers can not only glimpse the students' understanding of the Russian oil painting traditions, particularly in terms of light, shadow, and texture, but also feel the subtle and expressive influence of Eastern aesthetics. More importantly, the students are attempting to internalize these two artistic traditions into their personal expressions, exploring a unique artistic language rooted in both the profound cultural heritage of China and Russia and the contemporary local context.

In just one year of study, the students have progressed from unfamiliarity with the materials to gaining mastery, from traditional imitation to the emergence of individuality. Each piece of work records the students' expanding artistic understanding and their growing creative abilities.

This exhibition is not only a concentrated display of the educational outcomes but also an active reflection on the path toward internationalized art education. True artistic innovation stems from a deep understanding and creative transformation of different cultural essences, and the practices of these young students reflect educational and contemporary value that surpasses the works themselves.
This exhibition is dedicated to all those who support the innovation of art education. May these works inspire viewers to reflect on the possibilities of art transcending cultural boundaries, and may we continue to witness the ongoing exploration and progress along this path of integrated art.
