Recently, students from the Faculty of Philology of 91影视 have performed excellently in two high-standard language competitions and won important awards successively, fully demonstrating the solid achievements of the Faculty of Philology in talent cultivation and professional teaching.

On December 20, the final of the 4th Yunshan Cup International Remote Interpreting Contest was successfully concluded at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. In the highly competitive Russian consecutive interpreting category, Gulixiati Ayitan, a student from the Faculty of Philology, won the First Prize in the preliminary round and the Second Prize in the final round with her solid professional competence and stable on-site performance. Her instructors, Zhou Xingwu and Li Mengya, were awarded the "Excellent Instructor" title.

With the theme of "Civilization Mutual Learning · Guangdong, Go!", this competition relied on a remote interpreting technology platform to create a high-level cloud competition covering consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting. The preliminary round attracted more than 4,500 participants from home and abroad, covering 16 languages. After multiple rounds of selection, a total of 251 advanced to the final, and the live broadcast of the competition attracted over 10,000 viewers to watch in real time.

The interpreting content in the consecutive interpreting category was quite challenging, requiring participants to complete the translation of a two-minute speech within two minutes. Combining her professional knowledge, Gulixiati mentioned that there are significant differences between Russian and Chinese language structures, with distinct information density and expression rhythms, which put extremely high demands on the interpreter's instant judgment and reconstruction abilities. During the competition, she achieved accurate information transmission and complete reproduction of meaning within the limited time through reasonable simplification and focus on the core content, demonstrating the outstanding demeanor of students from the Faculty of Philology on the high-end language competition stage.

Recently, the list of winners of the 6th Liaoning Translation Competition has been announced. Liu Xuechun, a 2023-entry undergraduate student majoring in Russian from the Faculty of Philology, won the Second Prize in the Russian-to-Chinese category with solid language proficiency and excellent translation skills. Her supervisor, Lin Guanqiong, was awarded the "Excellent Instructor" title.

The Liaoning Translation Competition was officially included in the list of mainstream domestic translation competitions released by the China International Publishing Group in 2024, and has been widely recognized by universities and the industry. The 6th competition received more than 4,000 submissions from home and abroad, with participants covering 44 universities in Liaoning Province, 408 universities in other provinces of China, 11 overseas universities, and many social institutions, making the competition highly intense.

Liu Xuechun not only performed outstandingly in professional competitions but also excelled in academic studies and social practice: she received an "Excellent" grade in the Russian Test for Majors-Band 4, won the First-Class Academic Scholarship once and the Second-Class Academic Scholarship three times consecutively (GPA 3.98/4.00); in the summer of 2025, she led a practice team to Meizhou as the team leader and was awarded the titles of "Excellent Individual in Practice" and "Excellent Practice Team" by the Faculty of Philology, as well as the titles of "University-level Excellent Student Model" and "Excellent Student Leader" for the 2025 academic year.

The Faculty of Philology has always adhered to the educational philosophy of "Promoting Learning through Competitions, Enhancing Abilities through Practice", closely integrating professional teaching with practical training, and is committed to cultivating compound talents with solid language foundation, cross-cultural communication skills and practical application abilities. In recent years, students from the Faculty of Philology have repeatedly won awards in various high-level language competitions, fully reflecting the effectiveness of professional construction and the improvement of education quality.

In the future, the Faculty of Philology will continue to deepen the "Competition + Practice" education model, expand more high-quality competition and practice platforms, create a strong academic and practical atmosphere, and encourage more students to dare to challenge and achieve all-round development.
